HELLO CURLIES REVIEW

wpid-20141126_191540.jpg

I was lucky enough to review this brand of products. I LOVE how this brand keeps the bottle look simple yet cute. I also like how they color code every product to work for each hair type. The GREEN label is for CURL 3B hair and the PINK is for 3C hair. I am 3B but I like using heavier products in the winter. They also have a PURPLE label for coily hair and it’s more heavy to work on type 4 hair.

Packaging:

I’m a sucker for cute packaging and this won my heart! These products were packaged in the box so cute and the personalized letter really made me know this company cares about the people who use their brand. I like the simple look of the bottles, also. The push tops come in handy with travel and on the go. It’s also slim for easy storage.

Texture: This styler feels more like a leave in conditioner. It’s lightweight and goes on SO SMOOTH.

Size: 8 fl oz.

Smell: The smell is more like a lotion type of smell. I can’t quite describe it but it’s definitely not overpowering. It doesn’t last after it dries which is great.

Ingredients: Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 60, Glycerin, Amodimethicone, Trideceth-12, Cetrimonium Chloride, Behentrimonium Chloride, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Silk Amino Acids, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Calendula Officinalis (Marigold) Flower Extract, Methyl Gluceth-20, Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Fragrance, Citric Acid

THE HIGHLIGHTED INGREDIENTS:

+ avocado oil

-At first, I was scared about amodimethicone being in the ingredients because I don’t use ‘cones’  but after I did research on it, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try it.

HELLO TIGHT CURLY LEAVE IN CONDITIONER:

wpid-20141124_135107.jpgwpid-20141124_134912.jpg

Texture: This was very runny and lightweight. It reminded me a lot of Kinky Curly Knot Today. It goes on smooth but not as smooth as the styler. It has SO MUCH SLIP and detangles great just like the KCKT.

Size: 8 fl. oz

Smell: This smells like a lotion and it’s a little more noticeable in smell than the other two products.

Price: $8.99

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Cetyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Phenoxyethanol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Caprylyl Glycol, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Fragrance (Parfum), Citric Acid

HIGHLIGHTED INGREDIENTS:
+ aloe
+ green tea
Aloe is not an ingredient my hair likes so maybe that’s why this was my least favorite.
DOESN’T HAVE:
– no parabens
– no mineral oil
– no sulfates
– no petroleum

Claims: Fights frizz, no oil build up, detangler, moisturizer

HELLO TIGHT CURLY LEAVE IN CONDITIONER + HELLO TIGHT CURLY GEL:
I thought at first these two would go good together because they were in the same label line. As I applied the leave in conditioner on my hair, it instantly defined my curls. I, then used the gel on top and it was forming white balls. I continued to put it on my hair and I barely put any of the gel on because I didn’t want stiff hair. I was scared it would flake and when it dried, it didn’t flake but my hair was not as moisturized as I would have liked it to be. It was my fault for not doing the product test first which is putting both products on your hand and rubbing it together. If it goes on clear then it’s a good combo and this did NOT. I went back into the shower and washed my hair after it dried. It’s cold in Minnesota so I couldn’t deal with hair that isn’t moisturized enough. My hair didn’t like the leave in at all but it detangled great. This is the same problem I had with Kinky Curly Knot Today leave in. It didn’t moisturize my hair as great as I wanted it too. I have attached pictures of what my hair looked like when it dried though. It was shiny but it didn’t feel all that great to the touch.

HELLO CURLY fluffy soft styler + HELLO TIGHT CURLY soft defining gel:
After I washed the leave in and gel off my hair with my As I Am Cowash and applied my conditioner, I washed the conditioner off and applied the fluffy soft styler. The styler went on SO SMOOTH and HAD SO MUCH SLIP! I knew my hair would love it and it did. I then applied the gel afterwards and it went on smooth without any white balls. I let it airdry, which took about 3 hours. The gel did dry a little crunchy but when I scrunched the crunch out, It was really soft and shiny. My ends coiled really nicely, also. This helped SO MUCH with SHRINKAGE and my hair didn’t shrink as much. I loved the extra length this combo gave me and the DEFINITION of my curls were crazy. The combination also went on smooth and clear on my hand. The second day I applied more of the styler to dry hair because my hair started getting frizzy and dry. It made my hair soft and easier to manage. Today was third day hair and I felt my hair getting frizzy and tangled so I decided to wash it. I think these products would work better in the summer considering it contains glycerin. I live in Minnesota where it’s FREEZING and these products are too lightweight for winter but may work great in the summer.

FIRST DAY HAIR: (Don’t know why my hair looks brown but it’s indeed black. LOL)
