Blended Beauty (SilkShake & Curl Styling Lotion) REVIEW

I got sent two products from the Blended Beauty line to review. The Blended Beauty website looks awesome and very professional. They have certain products for every hair type so you’re guaranteed to find something that works.

I’m going to start off with the SilkShake, which is a Leave-in Conditioner Spray Lotion/Detangler:

Price & Size: $19 for an 8oz (8 oz for $19 is pretty expensive but it depends on your hair because I have fine hair which makes it to where a little goes a long way)

Packaging:

As you can see this is a spray on leave in and at first, I thought this would be a liquid product. I was kind of confused on why this was a spraying lotion because it doesn’t evenly spray on to the hair. Instead this spray shoots out the lotion so I decided on using it without the spray nozzle & I just put it on my hand without the top spray nozzle.

Texture:

this is a lotion that creamy and has so much slip! It was pretty impressive and it really moisturized my hair. It helped define my curls really well when I did a wash-n-go.

Smell: This product smells like cinnamon rolls! It isn’t an irritating smell at all and my hair smells good.

Ingredients: Aqua, Vegetable Glycerin, Caprily Isostearate, Oryza sativa (rice) bran oil, Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol, Preservative (Phenoxyethanol and Caprylyl Glycol and Sorbic Acid), Perfum, Rosmarinus Officinalis, Aloe Barbadensis

Claims on website: Treat your curls and give them a shake! SilkShake will revive dry and lifeless curls and hydrate while boosting shine, with Rice Bran oil. Perfect for detangling damp curls or for a boost in the morning or anytime of the day, on dry or damp hair. You can never spoil your curls too much!

The perfect product for coarse dry straight hair, such as some Asian hair. Comb-able when dry.

Overall: I applied this to soaking wet hair (low porosity hair usually works better with products when soaking wet). I separated my hair into 4 sections and the SilkShake helped tame my frizzy crown and fuzzy halo at the top of my hair. It smelled so good that I wanted to eat it (but I didn’t. lol). It made detangling a breeze and helped form my curls. The ingredients are awesome and worked well with my hair. I have fine hair so a little of this went a long way! It also made my hair feel super soft!

RATING: 8/10 (i took two points off because the price is pretty high up there for an 8oz and I HATE the spray nozzle)

This is a Leave-in Lotion Gel:

Price & Size: $19 for an 8 oz (A little goes a long way with this one & the tube seems big for an 8oz)

Packaging: This lotion comes in a tube and it’s great because you can control how much comes out.

Texture: this is a thick lotion that is creamy and spreads well when applied to the hair.

Smell: This also smells like cinnamon rolls but the smell is not as strong as the SilkShake. It smells so yummy when paired with the SilkShake.

Ingredients:Aqua, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetyl Alcohol (and) Butylene Glycol, Methylheptyl Isostearate, Polysorbate 20, Soy Lecithin, Cetyl Esters, Parfum, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride,  Preservative (Phenoxyethanol and Caprylyl Glycol and Sorbic Acid),  Rosmarinus Officinalis, Aloe Barbadensis, Chamomilla Recutita

(I was worried because of Shea Butter being the 2nd ingredient. Shea Butter stopped working in my hair and it usually makes my hair greasy and stiff.)

Claims on website: A leave-in styling lotion, and a moisturizing conditioner for medium textured curls. Tames and defines curls while moisturizing with aloe, shea butter and grapeseed oil. Leaves hair touchably soft. This lotion will moisturize, defrizz and give you definition, with soft hold all at the same time. For extra defrizzing and definition, use a little pudding on top.

Overall: This product surprisingly worked great on my hair and didn’t make my hair greasy or stiff. I used less than a dime size amount on each section because I was afraid of my hair being too weighed down. My hair was weighed down but not greasy. This combined with the SilkShake defined my curls so perfectly! My hair was moisturized for 4 days and the issues I have been having with my hair tangling so easily went out the window. My hair was soft and shiny. This also had a good hold and it was definitely not crunchy.

RATING: 10/10
