Jireh Naturals was kind enough to send me their “Juicy Curls” to try out for my readers and anyone interested in this product.
Price & Size: $12.99 for an 8oz. (The price is reasonable and when I first opened this product, the product inside was very full!)
Packaging:This comes in a jar which is convenient with a product like this.
Texture: The texture is creamy and it has a good amount of slip.
Smell: This smells fresh and like citrus. It’s not over-powering but it does somewhat linger.
Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Acrylic Acid/VP Crosspolymer, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Glyceryl Caprylate, Glyceryl Undecylenate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, , Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Fragrance, FD&C Yellow #5, FD&C Yellow #6, Propylene Glycol, Hydrastis Canadensis (Golden Seal) Extract, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract.
(This does have PEG-12 Dimethicone but when a silicone has the word “PEG” in front of it, it makes it water soluble. This ingredient is also the reason that this helps detangle and slip through the hair so easily.)
Overall: This product define curls amazingly! I didn’t have as much shrinkage using this and my curls were still bouncy. A little does NOT go a long way with this one because even for hair as thin & fine as mine, I still used about a quarter sized amount for each section of my hair. I usually use about maybe a dime sized amount with most product but with this one, I found that I needed more to coat my hair. Although this product defines and made my curls soft, I still needed to use a gel with this. I scrunched in a pump of my Camille Rose Naturals “Curl Maker” gel and the combo worked out great. I got the usual 3-4 days out of this wash n go and it washed out very easily. I had no build up. I believe this product will work on more fine hair rather than thick because it’s not a thick texture & I think it wouldn’t be moisturizing enough for someone with coarser hair. It made my thin hair feel thicker and it felt super lightweight, almost like I didn’t have product in my hair.
